Greet the New Year: New Years Resolutions

Hi my beauties,

Happy happy new year. I hope you have a wonderful 2014, with a lot of success and style. I’m going to keep the post very simple today, so I hope you don’t mind. I just want to show you my goals for this year and if you have any special resolutions feel free to post it in the comments.

Let’s jump right in:

1. A flat stomach
image

One thing you have to know about me: I’m pretty sporty, I just have my phases. But this year no more excuses, I want that flat tummy.
The problem is there are a lot of different treats and sweets out there which have always tempted me. And despite what Kate Moss says (Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.) I bet there are at least 10 junk foods that taste better. Don’t believe me?

1. Chocolate
2. Ben and Jerrys
3. Fruitn’ Chutney Chips ( Is this just me?)
4. Cupcakes ( You had this one coming)
5. Cream Soda
6. Mac ‘nd Cheese
7. Smores
8. Cookies
9. Smoothies
10. Slushies

Believe me I have many more. So back to the goal. I want to manage this without starving myself, just by eating healthy and exercising.

2. No more impulse buying
image

I cleaned out my cupboard the other day and honestly? Half of the stuff in there I bought because I liked it in the store. I wore it a lot at the time but now I just have to shake my head and turn my back towards it.
To avoid impulse buying I have a list and guidelines which I must follow.

3. Be nicer to my parents

This resolution I think is so important because I have a hell of a temper and I always regret it when I let it run wild with me. I want to have it under control and appreciate my parents more. Yes, they are annoying and yes, sometimes they ruin my life (just kidding) but they do a lot for me and I do sometimes take them for granted so big shout out to my parents. I love you and I’m grateful for everything you’ve done for me. ♥♡♥♡

4. Sleep more
image

So this resolution I have to admit, I copied from Collegefashion and it seemed like a good resolution. I drink so much coffee just to stay awake during class and as a result I tend to eat more when I’m hungry.
Little question is this normal?
Anyway so this is a useful resolution.

5. Keep the blog going
image

Yes guys, you, yes, you reading this are my last resolution. I love posting. It’s been a lot of fun and I actually learn a lot with each post. Its a great way to develop my style and to enjoy my love for beauty and fashion.

I hope you enjoyed this post. If you do any of my posts and take a picture feel free to share it with us. Either via Instagram (#caitlynsentme) or via email (fashion4forfun@gmail.com) or via Twitter (@Fashion4forFun).
I’ll be choosing pictures out at random and they’ll get a shout out on my blog. So be sure to do that.

I hope you have a lovely new year, please post your New Years resolutions in the comments it really intrests me.
I’ll see you in 2014.

Greet the New Year: Outfit edition

Hallo my beauties,

I’m so sorry for not posting sooner, there were more Christmas parties to attend than I thought, and I’m going to be honest with you, I’m exhausted.
But I put together some outfits for New Years eve, no matter if you’re spending time with your family or are going to party, please enjoy:

The casual look

image

Sweater, Crop top, High waisted jeans, Boots

This look is really comfy but still has a little bit of bling. I love the idea of a crop top and then a semi-see through sweater over it so that the pattern shines through. Then high waisted skinny jeans with riding boots is a really nice combination.
To top the look off I added a beautiful side fishtail braid. If you want to know how to make the fishtail braid you can check out my tutorial that I made earlier.
This outfit is perfect if you’re doing something with your family or if you’re having a little gathering eith your friends.

The formal look

image

Playsuit, Blazer, Shoes, Ring, Bag

This look is nice if you’re going to something more classy, like a fancy restaurant.
I absolutely love the plain black playsuit which one can combine with a lot of other stuff. What I love about playsuits is you look so classy wearing them with heels. For a little color how about a colorfully patterned blazer? And for a little edge this ring which mat hes the chain on the clutch.

The party look

image

Leggings, Sweater, Jacket, Shoes, Bracelet

Ok, let’s all take a moment to say that these leggings just scream New Years eve. And because there so loud we should tone the rest of the outfit down a little sticking to basics and neutral colors. Even the bracelet, which is from the Bethany Mota collection ( you should definitely check that out) has the minimum of gold in it. But even though this outfit isn’t made for everyday wear it is definitely perfect for New Years.

Bonus: The lucky ones

It’s a tradition that originated in Italy and has been taking Europe by storm. Women wear red underwear on New Years Eve for good luck. So here are just a few choices, all from Victoria Secret. (Angels, Fabulous)

I hope you enjoyed this post. It was really fun to do.

If you replicate any of my outfits or follow one of my tutorials and take a picture feel free to share it with us. Either via Instagram (#caitlynsentme) or via email (fashion4forfun@gmail.com) or via Twitter (@Fashion4forFun).
I’ll be choosing pictures out at random and they’ll get a shout out on my blog. So be sure to do that.

And I’ll see you guys soon,

Christmas with Caitlyn: Holiday makeup/ Reviews

Hi my beauties,

Merry Christmas!

It’s my favorite time of the year and I can’t wait to show you guys what I have planned for today.

This is a makeup tutorial for Christmas eve or even for any other special day. It’s really natural but still has a wow effect.

Let’s get started.

image

My face

So to explain, on my right eye I’ve already done the makeup but my left is bare. By the way on my cheeks I have a this highlighter from Caltrice, a limited edition with I love and I think it matches the holiday theme.

image

My eyes

Now I always tie my hair back and since I cut it it’s been hard, so I used this rubber which works really well.
As a highlighter for my eye I used this Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow by bobbi brown in the color Champagne 13. It belongs to my everyday makeup and it’s so easy to apply especially when I’m having a lazy day.

image

Today however I will be using this medium shadow brush and I’ll be applying the eye shadow in the inner corner of my eye and under my brow.

image

image

image

Next I’ll be using a palette.  It’s the Glam’eyes by Rimmel London in the color 002 English Oak.

image

I really like this palette because it really opens your eyes and it also is a little bit glittery but still looks natural.

We’ll be using this color:
image

No this color we’ll be applying all over our lid and under our brow. It’s optional what brush you want to use. You can use a medium shadow brush but I’ll be using an angle shadow brush.
image

Now we choose the most darkest color on the palette:
image

This we apply on our lid. Be sure to have some makeup remover around in case you make a mistake.
image

Next we’ll be using a gold-brown eyeshadow an with it we’ll paint over the dark brown one. This will create a shimmery effect but you’ll still see the dark one shining through and around the edges.
image

image

Then choose a color with a reddish undertone and spread it it your crease.
P.S I’m using an angle shadow brush for all these steps.
image

image

This color has to be lighter than the colors you used before. If you want you can blend it in a bit using a fluffy brush.
The next color also has a reddish undertone. It’s darker then the other one but not as dark as the darkest shade that we used. This one you apply  in the corned of your eye and a tiny bit under your eye.
image

image

image

So now we’re done with the eyeshadow part.
image

As I said it’s a pretty natural look. What you don’t see so well is how glittery the eyeshadow is.
Now for my mascara routine I have to say it changes a lot. I try different mascaras each time and also don’t use them all in the same way.
First thing I usually do is curl my lashes.
image

My little torture device;)
No , but seriously is it just me or does an eyelash curler look like some medieval torturing device?

Anyway after that I use my Winged mascara by Mabyelline on both my top and lower lashes.
image

Review

I absolutely love this mascara. It has this clever little brush that helps you apply the mascara on one side and on the other it has a curved side so it fits perfectly in the curve of my lashes. It’s a little harder though to apply the mascara to your lower lashes but all together it’s a pretty good mascara.

The next mascara I use is the Lashblast Fusion by covergirl. I just use it to pile upon my top lashes so that it opens up my eye and makes my lashes appear longer.
image

Review

It’s also a pretty good mascara but used alone it doesn’t really give you that Wow Effect. Quite subtle, but for younger girls that’s probabley good. If you’re not going for a subtle look it’s a good mascara that you can pile upon another so just use it with another mascara.

My lips

For my lips I went for a bold color. I also call it my Christmas lipstick because I used it as the statement piece for most of my Christmas outfits. It’s the Color Sensational Lipstick by Mabyelline in the color 180 Crazy Pink.
image

Review

Now my camera didn’t capture the color so well but it’s this beautiful hot pink. I love the color, it has a reasonable price and it doesn’t dry my lips out like other lipsticks do. I also love the case it’s really smart.
The only thing I have to criticise is that if your lips are dry you see it. So before using it be sure to exfoliate your lips with your toothbrush or with a lip scrub. (To make your own lip scrub check out my DIY)

The look

image

image

So that’s the look guys hope you like it. Be sure to check out all of my Christmas specials.

I’m not sure if I’ll be able to post tomorrow but I’ll try. Otherwise I will post my next post on the 26th. So be ready for that.

And that’s it. Merry Christmas everybody, enjoy the food and the time with your family.

Christmas with Caitlyn: Holiday nail art

Hi my beauties,

Sorry I’m so late, but I had a christmas party today and didn’t have time to plan ahead.  So here I am this evening and I promis no more late posts. At least until 2014.

Christmas is almost here, I mean 2 days and that means I need a few new ideas for the new year. So don’t be shy to leave a comment or to send me an email (fashion4forfun@gmail.com) with your ideas.

Now lets get started.

You’ll need:

image

– duck tape
White nail vanish (pearly white)
Red nail vanish ( Paint-the-Town)
Glitter nail polish ( 41 2 Million Dollar Baby)

(I couldn’t find the exact nail vanishes that I used, except for the catrice one but these should be fine. I triec the nail vanishes from each brand and they’re really good.)

Lets get started:

1.) Paint your nails white. If you want you can put on a base coat, I didn’t because I didn’t want the nail polish to be to thick.
image

2.) Get your duck tape and use it to outline what you want to be red. Careful!!!! Your nails have to be really dry and I’m using a really weak duck tape because otherwise you’ll just tear off the white nail polish when you remove it.
Whith the red lines you should make sure that the stripes have different sizes.
image

Paint in the gap that you created with your red nail polish. Let it dry.
image

3.) Slowly and carefully take the duck tape off. As soon as you’ve done that you should press down the edge of the red so that it’s smoother.
image

Mine are a tiny bit messy but I hope you’ll forgive me. I’m also really sorry that some of the pictures are a little out of fokus, I don’t know what I did wrong but I’ll try to avoid this in the future.

Now you’re actually done with the actual part of the tutorial, but because I owe you guys, here is a little extra:

1.) Take a piece of fabric. Best is a thin semi see-through Christmas ribbon.
image

This you place over a nail of your choice. I decided to take my pinky.

2.) As soon as you’ve decided drop a blob of clear nail polish on that nail and place the fabric over it and press it on. Let the nail polish dry.

As soon as it’s dry go over your nail a few times with a clear nail polish.
image

3.) Grab a pair of sharp scissors and cut away any excess fabric except an inch of fabric infront of your nail.
image

4.) Go over your nail again with the clear nail polish and then cut of the rest of the excess fabric.
image

image

5/4.) This is optional, but it looks really nice. Take a glittery nail polish and go over each nail, except the one with the fabric on it. It just adds that christmasy touch.
image

And now I’m sure you’ve been trying to figure out what stripez have to do with Christmas.  The official name for this type of manicure is… drum roll please………….

CANDY CANE NAILS!!!!!
image

Yes, and they’re so easy to do so please enjoy trying this yourself.

Now if you ever try any of my tutorials, please take a picture amd put it on instagram with the #caitlynsentme and I’ll randomly give a shout out to a few people who do this. I’ll be checking this the whole year round so feel free to do this anytime. If you don’t have instagram don’t worry, you can also tweet a pic @Fashion4forFun or send me the pic via email fashion4forfun@gmail.com .

And who knows I might be having a giveaway soon if enough people apply.

Have a great day/evening/morning and enjoy your holidays.

Christmas with Caitlyn: A night in the town

Hi my beauties,
I’m so excited right now because finally my holiday has begun. Be ready for a lot of spontaneous posts like this one. This is just a fun little post of a christmas tradition that has always been one of my favorites. My family and I go into Zürich which is a city that is near to where I live. I always enjoy these trips because there’s good food and great shopping.
Let’s have a look at the pictures with a cup of coffee or tea (which ever you prefer) and remember that this is just for fun.

image

image

Before I went to Zürich my friends and I decided to go into Starbucks and celebrate our newly-found freedom. And of course it wouldn’t be Starbucks without a few selfies.

image

image

A shop that my sister and I have been in love with since we were little girls is Franz Carl Weber, an enormous toy shop. This year we were very adventurous and I couldn’t resist taking a picture of this adorable unicorn and this weird monkey.

image

image

One reason I love these trips are the christmas lights. They are so beautiful and really worth looking at. I also love Swiss cities. They have a unique aura to them and they are full of history. (Sorry that this picture is scew, I tried to change it but it’s just being weird.)

image

When my sister said we were going to Movie, I was confused. But as it turns out Movie is a restaurant.  And what a reataurant, it has old cameras and pictures, and as you can guess, the whole thing is themed around movies.

image

The singing christmas tree: a fun christmas event.

image

image

Ok you got me I’m a coffee person, I can’t resist any coffee bad or good and Starbucks is definitely on the good side.
The lipstick that you see is my ‘Christmas lipstick’ but more to that on another day. I’ll be writing a review about it soon so stay tuned.

If you would like to know when I post you can follow me on Twitter @Fashion4forFun and if you want any information on anything or if you’re a company that wants to contact me you can do so via fashion4forfun@gmail.com .

Have a nice evening everyone and I’ll see you tomorrow.

Imagine Dragons Concert

Hi my beauties,

I’m sorry to inform you that today isn’t going to be a Christmas special, but I have something else planned for today. For all of you who have seen my past few posts know that last Monday Imagine Dragons came to Switzerland and had an awesome concert. Today is a pretty casual post so I hope you guys enjoy it anyway.
It was my first concert ever, and it was really good. They had two opening acts. The first one was ‘The moth and the flame’, they were good, there music just wasn’t really my taste and the second one was ‘Family of the year’. They were a bit more to my liking, especially there song ‘Hero’.
Finally ‘Imagine Dragons’ came on and they were awesome.n Dan Reynolds, the lead singer, was really funny and entertaining. I loved how they used the drums for almost every song and the whole concert was just one huge light show. At one point they threw out these huge balloons filled with confetti, they popped after a while and so the confetti rained down on us. It was so much fun and there was a good atmosphere during and after the concert.
Anyway, I’m sorry that I’m keeping you waiting. Sit back, relax and enjoy the pictures and videos:

Christmas with Caitlyn: Personalised beanie

Hallo my cuties,

Sunday is here and I’ve got another DIY for you…and a little suprise. I have the feeling I’m getting a hang of the picture taking scene, so that’s pretty awesome.
This tutorial is going to be a little bit different. I’m going to show you how to personalise your beanie, because if there’s one thing I can’t stand is if I see 5 people looking exactly the same. So let’s begin:

You’ll need:

image

– a beanie
– a necklace
– fabric glue
– matching thread
– needle

Let’s begin:

1.) Grab your necklace and use some tweezers to undo the chain.
image

image

image

2.) Pin the ends of your necklace to the beanie. Here you place the necklace the way you want it to be. It helps if you put the beanie on.
Now if you have a bendable necklace like me its easier to place, but if you have an unbendable one you can try bending it with your hands.
image

3.) Take a thread, loop it through the needle and then knot both ends together.
image

4.) Start sewing from the inside of the beanie, then inward again and just continue like that, until it’s stable.
image

5.) The rest of my necklace is still hanging through so I’m going to glue the stones on. If you want you can sew it, but I’m a little bit lazy.
image

image

image

Now you have your own personalised beanie.
image

And now to my surprise.
image

image

I cut my hair!!! I can honestly say I’ve never cut my hair this short so this is a huge step for me. I hope you like it;)

I know this DIY was pretty brief, if you want a more detailed version you can check out my ’embellished shirt’ tutorial.

Now my last blog post was about holiday hairstyles and I’d love it if you could send me your pictures of those hairstyles.  The best 5 will be displayed on my blog. So be sure to check that out.

A happy 2nd advent everybody and I’ll be seeing you guys next week.
