Fashion on the go: Travel Beauty Tips

Hi guys,

So this is a reupload because somehow it didn’t display this post right the last time. I hope you’ll forgive me that I’m not posting anything new, but I have so much going on at the moment: school and I’m doing this riding exam and it’s all really eating up my time so excuse me if my posts aren’t as frequent as they usually are.

Without further ado let’s get started with the 3rd post in this “Fashion on the go” -Series. Enjoy:

1. BB Cream
image

BB cream
I absolutely love this product, especially for travelling. It moisturises your skin which is very useful because airplanes can dry it out so easily. It also doesn’t feel like you have a ton of makeup on your face but still gives you some coverage. I think every girl should have a tube of BB cream lying around.

White eyeliner
image

Eyeliner
Let’s face it if you would go on a long flight with perfect cat eyes, you’ll probabley arrive looking like a racoon. And who wants that? Thats why I stay away from the black eyeliner and instead just try to look as awake and fresh as possible. White eyeliner is subtle but if you put it on your waterline and the corner of your eye it can really open them up. Plus, if it smudges you don’t see it.

Clear top coat
image image

Nail Polish
Good news girls: You can color your nails to your hearts content, because only the cheapest nail polishes chip after a few hours. But remember to seal with a top coat so that they’ll survive all the luggage carrying!

No waterproof Mascara

This is a big no. You might think:”I want my mascara to last so I better put on waterproof.” It makes sense but if you go to sleep with waterproof mascara you might break of your lovely lashes, and no mascara will be able to cover that up. Rather keep a packet of makeup wipes in your hand luggage just in case.

Hair
image image

You can leave it open but a lot of people prefer to have their hair out of their face. And there are so many easy ways to do it. Since you’ll probably be sleeping I would recommend to either wear your hair in a braid or in a very high bun. If you want some braiding pointers check out my Braids 101 post.

I hope you enjoyed my post and apologies again.

Be my Valentine♡ Makeup edition

Hi guys,

Valentines day is soon and I’m really excited because I love Valentines day, sadly here in Switzerland it isn’t a big deal. But I don’t care so get ready for my Valentines day special edition because for the next few weeks it will be almost the only thing I’ll be posting.

I already did my face makeup, so this is going to be more of an eye makeup tutorial.
image

This is how I’m starting out. If you want to know what I used, this is it:
image

Clinique acne solution(in 01 fresh alabaster), Clinique chubby stick(in 07 super strawberry), Sunkissed bronzer(color at the bottom),Catrice highlighter(in C01 Far and beyond),Nyx eyebrow cake powder(in Dark brown/brown),got2b powderful

I also used L’Oréal BB Cream Anti-dark circles and Yardley Oatmeal 2 in 1 blemish stick in Ivory, but I couldn’t find them anywhere.  I think they are discontinued.
By the way I used the Chubby Stick as a blush and it worked really way. It gave a nice subtle color.

Now to my eyes. I grabbed my Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash eye shadow in the color Champagne 13. I used it in the corner of my eye, under my eyebrow and over my whole eye lid.
image

Then I took my Long wear cream shadow, also by Bobbi Brown in the color Heather 30. This I just put over my lid. It is a purple color but it’s still subtle.

image

Next I grabbed my nyx Smokey look kit.
image

I chose the darkest grey color in the middle and brushed it in the corner of my eye. I didn’t brush exactly in the corner of my eye but smudged the gray a little bit over my temple for an extra smokey look. Be sure to blend it well though.
image

The next step is optional. I did it for a more intense look. I just grabbed my liquid liner and drew a thin line at the bottom and at the top of my eye, but only in the corner. Then I grabbed a kajal and went over the line I did before. Then just smudge it a little bit.
image

Now because of the black around my eye I filled my waterline with a white kajal. It just opens my eyes a little bit more.
image

For my mascara I used Mabyelline Big Eyes Mascara and then I piled some CovergirlLashblast Fusion on my top lashes.
image

Then for my last touch I added my Yves Rocher Nourishing balm. It is the chocolate and rasberry one, and again for some reason its discontinued even though I love it.
image

It moisturises my lips and ats abit of color. Plus it smells amazing.

The look:

Nail Art: Floral Nails

Hi my beauties,

It’s Sunday again and I’ve been missing Spring like crazy, which is weird ’cause Spring is like 3 months away. But this is also a cute tutorial for Valentines day so why the heck not? Btw this tutorial was inspired by this amazing nail artist on instagram @nailaholic_ . So if you’re looking for inspiration you should check her out.

You’ll need:

– base and top coat
– white nail polish
– a light pink nail polish
– a darker pink nail polish
– a green nail polish

Let’s get started:

1.) This is optional,  but I always use a base coat,  because I don’t like it when the polish stains and it also last longer. If you do be sure to let it dry before continuing.
image

2.) Paint your nails white. You might need 2-3 coats depending on the polish. Again let the polish dry.
image

3.) Dot a bit of the lighter pink nail polish on your nail. I just put a blob of the nail polish on but if you want you can use a dotting tool.
image

As you see I haven’t painted the one nail yet because I’m going for a different design there.
Let the polish dry.

4.) As soon as the lighter polish is dry you can get your darker pink polish and a thin brush. I wouldn’t use a makeup brush for this unless you don’t need it anymore. Here you have to be precise. Just paint tiny lines around the dot and inside of it.
image

Take your time with this.

5.) Use the same brush and paint two lines with the green nail polish.
image

Whith this step you’re finishef with your floral nail pattern. It’s really easy to do but it does take time and patience.

6.) Now I’m going to show you what I did with my other nail that I left bare. I’m using the same tape technique that I used with my holiday nail art, you can go check it out, if you want.
image

I just painted the stripes with the lighter pink and painted a few thin lines with the darker pink nail polish and my nail art brush.

And finally:

image

The floral nails♥♡♥ I’ve been so into floral lately, that I adore these nails, even though they take some time.
I hope you love them as much as I do. If you do these nails I’d love to see them. You can send your pics of the  via email fashion4forfun@gmail.com or Twitter @Fashion4forFun or you can tag me in it on Instagram @Fashion4forFun.  Be sure to check out @nailaholic_ my inspiration for this post.

Makeup, Fashion and other things

Hi my beauties,

These past 3 years have been hard on me. I had a lot that I had to deal with and some of it wasn’t really pleasant.  But I changed a lot and learnt a lot about life I guess. One question that has been bothering me is why Fashion? And why makeup? Why bother at all?

Before I answer, I want to show you guys the difference that makeup does.
image

On the left I am wearing makeup and on the right my face is bare.

The difference isn’t that big, because I simply like it natural. So why bother. I have two reasons.

1.) It’s fun. I enjoy putting my makeup on every morning and trying out new looks. I also sometimes plan a whole day just so I can try different hairstyles.
I even sometimes go into the clothes stores and put together 20 different outfits just for the fun of it.
I have to admit fashion, makeup and all that it includes are one of my biggest hobbies.

2.) Confidence.  You know why humans are social? Because it’s a need of ours to compare ourselves to others. But we’re not allowed to let this need get the best of us. That’s why we learn after a while to dress and do what makes us happy.
That’s why I sometimes want to lose weight or get a new haircut. Because it’s not important to me how other people see me, it’s the way I see myself and how I feel in my own skin.
So please, if your friend says she’s dieting or that she wants to change something about herself: it’s her choice. She (or he) needs to do what’s right for her (him), even if she (he) does a mistake. It’s all a part of life.

These are just my thoughts on the matter. People that get dressed differently or wear to much makeup,  it’s how they feel comfortable in their own skin and that’s so important.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post. It’s a little different from all my other posts but I thought it was important to get this ‘out there’.

Please share your thoughts with me. Either by commenting or if you want by sending me an e-mail ( fashion4forfun@gmail.com) or via Twitter @Fashion4forFun.

Christmas with Caitlyn: Holiday makeup/ Reviews

Hi my beauties,

Merry Christmas!

It’s my favorite time of the year and I can’t wait to show you guys what I have planned for today.

This is a makeup tutorial for Christmas eve or even for any other special day. It’s really natural but still has a wow effect.

Let’s get started.

image

My face

So to explain, on my right eye I’ve already done the makeup but my left is bare. By the way on my cheeks I have a this highlighter from Caltrice, a limited edition with I love and I think it matches the holiday theme.

image

My eyes

Now I always tie my hair back and since I cut it it’s been hard, so I used this rubber which works really well.
As a highlighter for my eye I used this Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow by bobbi brown in the color Champagne 13. It belongs to my everyday makeup and it’s so easy to apply especially when I’m having a lazy day.

image

Today however I will be using this medium shadow brush and I’ll be applying the eye shadow in the inner corner of my eye and under my brow.

image

image

image

Next I’ll be using a palette.  It’s the Glam’eyes by Rimmel London in the color 002 English Oak.

image

I really like this palette because it really opens your eyes and it also is a little bit glittery but still looks natural.

We’ll be using this color:
image

No this color we’ll be applying all over our lid and under our brow. It’s optional what brush you want to use. You can use a medium shadow brush but I’ll be using an angle shadow brush.
image

Now we choose the most darkest color on the palette:
image

This we apply on our lid. Be sure to have some makeup remover around in case you make a mistake.
image

Next we’ll be using a gold-brown eyeshadow an with it we’ll paint over the dark brown one. This will create a shimmery effect but you’ll still see the dark one shining through and around the edges.
image

image

Then choose a color with a reddish undertone and spread it it your crease.
P.S I’m using an angle shadow brush for all these steps.
image

image

This color has to be lighter than the colors you used before. If you want you can blend it in a bit using a fluffy brush.
The next color also has a reddish undertone. It’s darker then the other one but not as dark as the darkest shade that we used. This one you apply  in the corned of your eye and a tiny bit under your eye.
image

image

image

So now we’re done with the eyeshadow part.
image

As I said it’s a pretty natural look. What you don’t see so well is how glittery the eyeshadow is.
Now for my mascara routine I have to say it changes a lot. I try different mascaras each time and also don’t use them all in the same way.
First thing I usually do is curl my lashes.
image

My little torture device;)
No , but seriously is it just me or does an eyelash curler look like some medieval torturing device?

Anyway after that I use my Winged mascara by Mabyelline on both my top and lower lashes.
image

Review

I absolutely love this mascara. It has this clever little brush that helps you apply the mascara on one side and on the other it has a curved side so it fits perfectly in the curve of my lashes. It’s a little harder though to apply the mascara to your lower lashes but all together it’s a pretty good mascara.

The next mascara I use is the Lashblast Fusion by covergirl. I just use it to pile upon my top lashes so that it opens up my eye and makes my lashes appear longer.
image

Review

It’s also a pretty good mascara but used alone it doesn’t really give you that Wow Effect. Quite subtle, but for younger girls that’s probabley good. If you’re not going for a subtle look it’s a good mascara that you can pile upon another so just use it with another mascara.

My lips

For my lips I went for a bold color. I also call it my Christmas lipstick because I used it as the statement piece for most of my Christmas outfits. It’s the Color Sensational Lipstick by Mabyelline in the color 180 Crazy Pink.
image

Review

Now my camera didn’t capture the color so well but it’s this beautiful hot pink. I love the color, it has a reasonable price and it doesn’t dry my lips out like other lipsticks do. I also love the case it’s really smart.
The only thing I have to criticise is that if your lips are dry you see it. So before using it be sure to exfoliate your lips with your toothbrush or with a lip scrub. (To make your own lip scrub check out my DIY)

The look

image

image

So that’s the look guys hope you like it. Be sure to check out all of my Christmas specials.

I’m not sure if I’ll be able to post tomorrow but I’ll try. Otherwise I will post my next post on the 26th. So be ready for that. If you do any of my posts and take a picture feel free to share it with us. Either via Instagram (#caitlynsentme) or via email (fashion4forfun@gmail.com) or via Twitter (@Fashion4forFun).
I’ll be choosing pictures out at random and they’ll get a shout out on my blog. So be sure to do that.

And that’s it. Merry Christmas everybody, enjoy the food and the time with your family.

Christmas with Caitlyn: Holiday nail art

Hi my beauties,

Sorry I’m so late, but I had a christmas party today and didn’t have time to plan ahead.  So here I am this evening and I promis no more late posts. At least until 2014.

Christmas is almost here, I mean 2 days and that means I need a few new ideas for the new year. So don’t be shy to leave a comment or to send me an email (fashion4forfun@gmail.com) with your ideas.

Now lets get started.

You’ll need:

image

– duck tape
White nail vanish (pearly white)
Red nail vanish ( Paint-the-Town)
Glitter nail polish ( 41 2 Million Dollar Baby)

(I couldn’t find the exact nail vanishes that I used, except for the catrice one but these should be fine. I triec the nail vanishes from each brand and they’re really good.)

Lets get started:

1.) Paint your nails white. If you want you can put on a base coat, I didn’t because I didn’t want the nail polish to be to thick.
image

2.) Get your duck tape and use it to outline what you want to be red. Careful!!!! Your nails have to be really dry and I’m using a really weak duck tape because otherwise you’ll just tear off the white nail polish when you remove it.
Whith the red lines you should make sure that the stripes have different sizes.
image

Paint in the gap that you created with your red nail polish. Let it dry.
image

3.) Slowly and carefully take the duck tape off. As soon as you’ve done that you should press down the edge of the red so that it’s smoother.
image

Mine are a tiny bit messy but I hope you’ll forgive me. I’m also really sorry that some of the pictures are a little out of fokus, I don’t know what I did wrong but I’ll try to avoid this in the future.

Now you’re actually done with the actual part of the tutorial, but because I owe you guys, here is a little extra:

1.) Take a piece of fabric. Best is a thin semi see-through Christmas ribbon.
image

This you place over a nail of your choice. I decided to take my pinky.

2.) As soon as you’ve decided drop a blob of clear nail polish on that nail and place the fabric over it and press it on. Let the nail polish dry.

As soon as it’s dry go over your nail a few times with a clear nail polish.
image

3.) Grab a pair of sharp scissors and cut away any excess fabric except an inch of fabric infront of your nail.
image

4.) Go over your nail again with the clear nail polish and then cut of the rest of the excess fabric.
image

image

5/4.) This is optional, but it looks really nice. Take a glittery nail polish and go over each nail, except the one with the fabric on it. It just adds that christmasy touch.
image

And now I’m sure you’ve been trying to figure out what stripez have to do with Christmas.  The official name for this type of manicure is… drum roll please………….

CANDY CANE NAILS!!!!!
image

Yes, and they’re so easy to do so please enjoy trying this yourself.

Now if you ever try any of my tutorials, please take a picture amd put it on instagram with the #caitlynsentme and I’ll randomly give a shout out to a few people who do this. I’ll be checking this the whole year round so feel free to do this anytime. If you don’t have instagram don’t worry, you can also tweet a pic @Fashion4forFun or send me the pic via email fashion4forfun@gmail.com .

And who knows I might be having a giveaway soon if enough people apply.

Have a great day/evening/morning and enjoy your holidays.

Christmas with Caitlyn: Lip scrub

Hi beauties,

Welcome to my first ever holiday special with the name: Christmas with Caitlyn. And let me just say, I’m so excited,  I absolutely love Christmas. I love the lights, I love the decorations and most of all I love the fashion.

But today we won’t be looking at the amazing fashion, instead we’ll be concentrating on the gifting part of Christmas. In particular: Lip scrub.
The idea came from this lip scrub by Lush. It tastes so good, they have so many different flavours and it works really well, my only issue with it is, it’s quite pricey. So I decided to do some handiwork instead. So let’s get started:

You will need:
image

– small makeup holders
– castor sugar
– olive oil
– honey
– flavouring (optional)

1.) Take a teaspoonful of castor sugar and mix it with 1-1.5 teaspoonfuls of olive oil. The mixture should not be too oily.
image

image

image

2.) Add honey. Just dribble it over the mixture.  It can’t be too sticky, but it’s supposed to help stick it all together.
image

3.) Now it’s time to add the flavouring.  I went for real christmasy flavours, since well, Advent starts today. Here for the one lip scrub I used gingerbread herbs and I swear it tastes just like gingerbread. So good!
image

For my second lip scrub I chose clementine and I just grated some of the peel into the mixture and then mixed it. It’s fresh, fruity and it reminds me of the christmas season. Enjoy!
image

4.) Put the scrub in the makeup holder. Press it down and fill it up to get the most out of the scrub.
image

Voilà! You can use this lip scrub for yourself or pack it up as a christmas present. It’s great, especially if your lips are chapped.
I can promise you now that I’ll be making more DIYs for christmas presents,  so stay tuned.
image

Now if you want to know when my special posts are you can follow me on Twitter @Fashion4forFun and if you have any additional questions, suggestions or reviews you can contact me at fashion4forfun@gmail.com .
Happy 1st Advent, enjoy it with your family and friends and I’ll be seeing you guys soon.

P.S A big shout out to a few of my friends. They’ve been sick for the last few days and I’m hoping that this post will cheer them up a little bit. I love you guys, get well soon. ♡♥♡
